To Bugaboo or Not?

After some serious stroller shopping, including a trip to Buy Buy Baby to test drive them, my wife and I agreed that we liked the Bugaboo stroller the best. But at $729 for the Frog, we wondered whether we really wanted to/could spend so much on a stroller. To complicate things, Bugaboo is phasing out the Frog and rolling out the Gecko ($679) and Cameleon ($879) in its place.
The most important question to us was the functionality/value tradeoff (sorry that the MBA in me slipped out). The factors that made the Bugaboo attractive to us were: (1) product quality, (2) ride comfort - like an SUV but without the gas guzzling, (3) and flexibity (adaptable for bassinet, car seat, regular seat). 1 and 2 are particularly important for NYC since we walk a lot. Therefore, we decided that we do want to Bugaboo.
Once we chose to go with a Bugaboo, the next decision is which one. The Frog was the original. The Gecko is the new, cheaper model with less features. The Cameleon is the most expensive model, offering color customization, telescoping handles and larger seat/bassinet. To us, the price difference between the Gecko and the Frog wasn't enough for us to go with the cheaper model. We also didn't think we needed the extras provided by Cameleon (after all, being blessed with below average height meant that I didn't need a taller handlebar and our baby probably didn't need the extra room). Most importantly, I wanted a navy blue stroller to stay true to the Blue and Gold of the Cal Golden Bears.
After all that, we went ahead and bought a navy Bugaboo Frog stroller from Baby Universe!
