ERGO Baby Carrier - The Indispensable Tool for Our Trip

ERGO Baby Carrier

For the longest time, mommy*drama talked about getting a new baby carrier. Supposedly, the little one had outgrown the Baby Bjorn, not to mention the back pain she gets wearing it. After some shopping, she settled on the ERGO Baby Carrier. Imagine the look on my face when I saw the UPS box. How dare she buy something not previously endorsed by Daddy*drama!

I learned what an amazing carrier the ERGO is on our trip to Taiwan. The ERGO shifts most of the baby's weight to the hips, thereby relieving pressure on the shoulders and the spine. Beyond helping us zip through the airports (JFK, SFO, NKM/NRT, TPE) and serving as a security blanket on takeoffs and landings (not FAA approved but did the trick), it also served as a sleeping aid on the plane, strapping the little one close to our chest so she can get some ZZZs rather than squirm around. So despite all of mommy*drama's shennanigans, I have to admit that it was money well spent (even if it was more than the $30 I originally thought it costs).

Available at ERGO Baby.

How does it compare to a Bjorn?

Much more comfortable to wear and easier to put the baby in than the Bjorn. Don't feel like your shoulders or back hurt...

The ergo has been amazing for us too. We live in the city and need to be able to get around sometimes without the stroller and our 20lb plus child is also too heavy for the Bjorn.

At first, I didn't like the ergo because the child can not face "out". They use this as a selling point saying that it helps them to feel safer. I didn't buy it...but now I do. Our child loves it. She actually points to it and wants to get in.

Another great thing about the ergo is the carrying positions. It works on the hip or as a backpack too. I think my 1 year old is too small for the backpack carry but I look forward to using it in the future. And the finale is that it is soft which means you can travel easily with it, toss it in the diaper bag or a carry on for the plane.

I investigated a lot of framed back packs but this was the best for me. I initially sent it back because I wasn't looking for another "front carrier" but I purchased again because it was the best and most versatile. I actually tried four other carriers and settled on the ergo and am so happy I did! People stop to say that it looks comfortable and what is it all the time!!!

Finally -- if you purchase directly from their site they give you a 90 day money back guarantee. Even if you gently use the product. So, you have no reason not to try it! (I know this might sound like I work for them, but I don’t…).

happy carrying...
